For most of its 40 years, this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 LS6 has been doing exactly what it was built to do: tear up the drag strip. Along the way it has become arguably the most famous drag-racing Chevelle ever, capturing the SS/DA class record in 1972 and setting an elapsed time of 10:75 at 123 MPH on the way to winning Top Eliminator 14 of 16 events at Bradenton Dragway in Florida in 1976.
Purchased new by A/FX racer Bob Hamilton as a Valentine’s Day gift to his wife, the big-block beast was soon spending its Sundays at the local drag strip with Hamilton at the wheel. Sponsored by AMT and dubbed “Red Alert,” it began its long and extremely successful career in 1971, setting the SS/DA national record during the 1972 season and owning the track record at New Jersey’s Island Dragway for over two years.
Hamilton sold “Red Alert” in 1976 to racer Terry Carney who, in 1990, partnered with Bill & Jan Stephenson to reintroduce the car to a new generation of fans and a new career in popular nostalgia drag racing. The car has since run the quarter mile in the low tens at over 130 MPH. A true drag racing legend in every sense, the “Red Alert” Chevelle has always been expertly maintained and remains in splendid condition. It is almost entirely as Hamilton raced it, retaining its original sheet metal and interior and most of its original Cranberry Red paint.

Most of us who were lucky enough to essentially grow up with a muscle car that our parents owned can vividly recount the experience of riding in it. Especially if your parents had the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with the 454 big-block V8.
Our perspective, usually from the backseat, involved peering between the buckets to keep a watchful eye on Mom or Dad as they drove. We felt a rush when the induction and exhaust systems roared while the engine revs climbed and we were compressed further into the seat as the scenery blurred through the windows. This is what it felt like to ride in a 1970 Chevelle SS 454.

ACME is thrilled to present pics of the final tooling sample of our 1:18 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad! We are expecting the first decorated sample in the next 3 - 4 weeks and production will begin after that sample is approved. If all goes well, we hope to have production completed and shipped to us sometime in 2024
When Chevy’s line of cars was redesigned in 1955, they added two new editions: the upscale Bel Air model and the Bel Air Nomad, a 2-door sport wagon. The latter was based in part on a 1954 Corvette show car that had many of the styling cues that made it into the production Nomad which caused a lot of buzz! From the cowl forward, the wagon was all Bel Air. But from the windshield back, it had its own body that shared no sheet metal with other Chevy station wagons. Only 8,386 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomads were produced.
The Chevrolet Nomad could carry up to 6 people, or make some muscle car noises. Priced at $2,571 in 1955, the Nomad came with a 265 cubic-inch V8 as standard equipment. The top-of-the-line engine in 1955 for the Nomad was a Chevy small block with a four-barrel carb and dual exhausts. This setup was good for a maximum of 180 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
Note: There may be some minor changes that may occur before final production.

1:18 1970 Chevrolet Blazer K/5 -
Celebrity Owned
Originally owned by none other than Steve McQueen!
A young gentleman named Bob Bianchi acquired this custom Blazer via a Penny Saver newspaper ad in 1971, buying it out of a warehouse in the Los Angeles suburbs for $1,800.00, and the Bianchi family has retained it ever since. Later research by Bianchi discovered the Steve McQueen/Solar Productions origins as one of several purchased for the Baja desert race program.
Accompanying the sale was a copy of the original dealer invoice from December 1969 showing Steve McQueen/Solar Productions as the first purchaser of this 1970 K5. When delivered, the Blazer was reportedly set up as a support vehicle for the actual off-road race, getting a front posi traction differential installed and a swap to a four-headlamp GMC grille to allow better light coverage in the desert night.

There were Camaros, and then there were Camaros. Don Yenko called his SYC Camaro “The Mean One.” He wasn’t kidding.
As far as the Camaro cognoscenti are concerned, some of the meanest Chevrolet pony cars ever built came from a small Chevrolet dealer in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. That dealer was Yenko Chevrolet, and the SYC (Super Yenko Camaro) Camaros were legends in their own time, both on the street and drag strip.
Don Yenko was a proficient amateur racer as well as a Chevrolet dealer, and had competed in such prestigious events as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring in covertly factory-backed Corvettes. His racing success provided him with strong ties to the factory. He had built and sold a variety of conversions at his dealership since the early 1960s, and had been doing 427 Camaro conversions since Chevrolet had introduced their pony car in 1967.

The name Yenko was very popular during those times, thanks to Don Yenko’s racing career. Much like Shelby, people saw him in almost every car-related thing, from race tracks to car shows. So, seeing a car with the name “Yenko” automatically made it unique and precious.
Due to its performance-oriented design and race-inspired aesthetic, people have regarded the 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro as a classic in the automotive world. Yenko constructed the Yenko Camaro version in small numbers (only about 201 vehicles total). There were only 66 Daytona Yellow Yenko Camaros made and even fewer with vinyl tops.
