There’s little doubt that the 1971 Hemi 'Cuda is the Holy Grail of muscle cars! It’s the one muscle car that stands out for being the first American muscle car to demand north of the million dollar mark at auction (in 2014). But the status of the Hemi Cuda is not new; it has long been lusted for as a legendary muscle car with sinister looks and the power to back it up. First, yes, it's In Violet paint (commonly referred to as Plum Crazy), that wild and eye-grabbing '70s pop-culture hue that practically defined Mopar performance machinery. Both models have white seating and door panels with black dashboard and carpet. Under the hood you'll find the 383 Big Block Wedge powerplant which was designed to be a great combination of thrift and performance. Few Detroit muscle machines had the same impact as the 1971 Cuda with lightning acceleration, flamboyant paint and styling. . Cuda Drag Car “Arlen Vanke” – 1968
Stock Number  – 1806133 Year / Make / Model  – 1968 "Arlen Vanke" Cuda Super Stock Exterior Color  – Race Day Look Interior Color  – Black Manufacture  – Acme Scale  –  1:18 Production Number  – 372 Release Date  – Available Now! . "Akron" Arlen Vanke was a working-man's drag racer. Competing--and winning--in the Stock, Super Stock and Pro Stock classes, he set records with Pontiacs and, later, Plymouths, earning multiple Stock Eliminator titles with both marques. Through it all, he built the cars in a backyard garage and often drove his open ramp truck to the track and back. In fact, Chrysler hired Vanke to test their performance technology. In 1967, Arlen modified the RO23 Hemi intake manifold for racing. "NHRA rules allowed racers to modify the intake manifold, so I made the stock manifold into a plenum chamber manifold, " he said. . Vanke's Hemi, along with the Sox & Martin team, gave Mopars so many victories in the late '60s that they dominated the scene in Super Stocks. In 1968, he built this incredible HEMI Cuda that we are so proud to offer. He won the Nationals in August at Indy running SS/B with his 1968 Plymouth Hemi Cuda. He then reset the record again with a 10.61 at 140 miles per hour in the Cuda in SS/A at the Winter Nationals in Pomona, California. . . Special Offer!! The 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda Convertible was one of the last of its kind, built as the muscle car era neared its end. It is one of 12 built for the 1971 model year and among the five examples earmarked for non-U.S. destinations. Designed by John E. Herlitz and built on the new E-body platform, the 1971 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda featured a wider body and a lower stance than its second-generation predecessor. Among the many reasons why this HEMI is exceptional is the factory A833 four-speed manual transmission paired with a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter and, under the hood, a savage HEMI engine. Only three came equipped with this option. The Winchester Gray 'Cuda features a black Shaker scoop, a V3X option code black top, black billboard graphics, and Rallye wheels wrapped in F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. . Don Grotheer may not be a household name, but he was a Super Stock NHRA/AHRA heavy hitter during the 1960s.  Grotheer started racing a black ’63 Plymouth followed by a white ’63 Plymouth AA/Stock eliminator in 1965. He was able to win the AA/S championship, which caught the attention of Bob Cahill, product planner, and manager of Chrysler’s drag racing program. Cahill provided Grotheer a parts contract. Grotheer was also enlisted to conduct performance clinics at Chrysler dealerships (along with Sox & Martin and Dick Landy) and he did over 75 of them. He was also a pioneer of the Pro Stock class in its infancy. In 1967, Grotheer raced a '67 Plymouth Belvedere and won the Winternationals class eliminations, securing another Division Championship. Grotheer went on and won again in 1967 then again at the ’69 Winternationals in his Super Stock/B Automatic Cuda with B&M “secret weapons” transmission parts and “race-stall tork-converter.” Always an innovator, he continued to race for many more years.  .
